Welcome to Ferns & District Game Protection Association

Ferns & District Game Protection Association (Ferns GPA) was formed on the 01/07/1963 at a meeting held in the Castle Cinema (now the Community Centre) in Ferns.

It is an affiliated club to the National Association of Regional Game Councils (NARGC)which was founded in 1968 and is the largest voluntary organisation in Ireland involved in game shooting and conservation. The Ferns GPA club has grown steadily since its formation and it now has over 90 affiliated members making it one of the largest GPA clubs in the country.

This Saturday afternoon 19th October at 2pm. All club members and family are welcome. Great social occasion and some friendly clays. See events calender for more information or contact any committee member.

Ferns GPA 50th Anniversary Clay Shoot

Our celabratory 50th Anniversary Clay Shoot takes place on Sunday 29th of September. There will be a 50 bird sporting layout and also a 15 bird DTL. We have secured great prizes from very generous sponsors and will aim to provide a great days sport. We hope for good weather and there will be food and refreshments on site. The shoot will take place at our new grounds at Ballyandrew which will be signposted from Ferns and Bunclody.

Dog trials and Longest bird 2012

Ferns GPA run 4 clay pigeon shoots each year on the lands kindly given by the land owner. These are:

Dog Trials

The club holds it's annual dog trial on the last sunday before the shooting season on November 1st. Our first trophy was presented to the club by James O'Neill in 1982 and was awarded to the pointer section.
